Message from the Rector

Our university, which started its educational activities with the Faculty of Letters "Philosophy, History and Turkish Language and Literature Programs" in the academic year of 2010-2011, has continued to enrich its undergraduate programs with new departments opened under the name of Faculty of Theology (formerly named as International Faculty of Islamic and Religious Sciences) and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. Our Faculty of Education will start education activities by admitting students to the Turkish Language Teaching Program in the 2019-2020 academic year.

On the other hand, within the Institute of Social Sciences, our graduate and doctoral programs with/without thesis are developing every year, and the difference and success of our graduates in these programs are a joy and pride for us.

With the awareness that the development of our country will be possible with “qualified knowledge” and “qualified human resources”, our university tries to focus on “research” in addition to the level education and training programs. In this context, the main feature of our university is that it has an outstanding and strong academic staff, and our staff is thriving in every period.

Another distinctive feature of our university is that it has a student-oriented education approach. As a matter of fact, as well as individual and psychological guidance and counseling practices, there is an academic support program in order to guide, develop and prepare our students in their learning processes and the program is for those who are willing and curious to support and accelerate their development.

The success of our preparatory class programs is not limited to teaching Arabic, English and Turkish. After high school education, these programs develop our students' disciplined studying skills and prepare them for undergraduate programs, creating a serious basis for their success.

At the end of the 2018-2019 academic year, while our Faculty of Letters graduating its 6th, Faculty of Theology its 4th and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences its 2nd term students, they experienced the joy and pride. Dear students, although our university is a new and young one, it is not an “ordinary university” but a thematic one that has determined its line and concentrated on social sciences. When the devoted efforts of our board of trustees, distinguished academic and administrative staff, and your conscious, stable efforts come together, we witness the success stories that develop in the family environment with goodwill and sincerity.

Even though this is just the beginning for our university, 29 Mayıs University has continued its steady development and reached a steady success chart among foundation universities.

Still active in its educational activities in Altunizade Campus since its establishment, our university has been continuing its education and academic activities in Ümraniye Elmalıkent Campus since 2018-2019 academic year.

I would like to thank the esteemed chairman and members of our Board of Trustees and the esteemed executives of our founding foundation, Turkish Religious Foundation, for contributing to the development of our university which is determined to be one the leading universities in our country and region. I would also like to welcome all the bright and young minds to Istanbul 29 Mayıs University in the 2020-2021 academic year.
