Gizem Barreto Martins completed her BA, MA and PhD degrees at Istanbul University, Department of American Culture and Literature. After completing her master's degree, she worked as a Research Assistant, Instructor and Lecturer in various institutions, as well as translating academic and literary texts as a freelancer. In her master’s study, she examined the relationship between gender and language on David Mamet's plays. In her doctoral research, she studied the relationship between theater and politics by reading various texts from American theater through G. Deleuze and F. Guattari. Her academic interests are modern and postmodern literature, dramatic theories and criticism, dramatic texts, and post-structuralist literary theories.
