Dr. Hasret Saygı is a sociolinguist specialised in multilingualism, migration, and intercultural communication. Her research explores the relationship between language and identity, employing discourse-analytical and ethnographic approaches. She has led numerous field-based studies with refugees, migrants, international students, and workers, examining language use across a wide range of multilingual settings, including domestic spaces, workplaces, neighbourhoods, touristic marketplaces, and universities. Dr. Saygı holds a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from King’s College London. She earned her PhD from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, with an award-winning dissertation, and during her doctoral studies, she served as a visiting doctoral researcher at the Universitat de Lleida in Spain, researching language and identity. Following the completion of her PhD, Dr. Saygı carried out her postdoctoral research at the Institute of Education, University College London (UCL). She currently holds the title of Honorary Research Fellow at UCL and continues her academic work as a faculty member at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University.
