Dr. Hasret Saygı completed her undergraduate degree in the Department of Foreign Languages Education at Middle East Technical University. She then earned her M.A degree in Applied Linguistics at King’s College London. In her M.A thesis, she explored workplace interaction between Turkish migrant workers and their customers in London. Dr. Saygı completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Foreign Languages Education at Boğaziçi University. Her doctoral project, which explored everyday interaction between refugee and local women in a Turkish town, won the Best Dissertation award of Bogaziçi University in 2019. Saygı’s research specialities are sociolinguistcs and multilingualism, and in her works, she explores intercultural communication and the relationship between language and identity from a discourse analytical and ethnographic perspective. Saygı is also concerned with the issue of school dropout, and has been involved in several projects investigating school dropout among refugee and Roman children. Saygı currently works as an assistant professor in the Department of Foreign Languges Education at İstanbul 29 Mayıs University.
