Assistant Professor Nur Akbulut Kılıçoğlu completed her undergraduate education in the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Ankara University, in 2006. She received her master’s degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling from the Faculty of Education at Middle East Technical University in 2010 with her thesis entitled “The Relationship Between Vocational Maturity and Hopelessness Among Female and Male Twelfth Grade Students.” She completed her doctoral studies in the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling at the Institute of Educational Sciences, Marmara University, in 2016. Her doctoral dissertation examined the effectiveness of an expressive-based group intervention designed to enhance the social-emotional learning skills of adolescents from single-parent families.
Before pursuing an academic career, Akbulut Kılıçoğlu worked for many years as a school psychological counselor in primary and secondary education settings. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences, Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program, at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in psychological counseling, counseling skills, family counseling, and related areas, and provides academic supervision for student research and graduate studies.
Her research is situated within the field of guidance and psychological counseling and focuses on psychological resilience, trauma and secondary traumatic stress, grief and loss, social-emotional learning, self-efficacy, self- and body-related perceptions, spiritual well-being and meaning, digital behaviors, and digital psychosocial risks. Her recent work particularly addresses digital risks among children and young people, problematic technology use, cyber behaviors, smartphone-related digital distraction in classroom settings, and the psychosocial challenges encountered by school counselors in the digital age.
