Dr. Taner DURSUN received his B.Sc. degree from the Department of Control and Computer Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. studies in the Department of Computer Engineering at the same university. Early in his career, he lectured as a faculty member at Atatürk University before joining TÜBİTAK as a researcher. Over a span of more than 25 years at TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, he assumed various roles ranging from software developer to project manager, participating in large-scale national infrastructure development projects. Having served as the Head of the TÜBİTAK Blockchain Laboratory since 2018, he left TÜBİTAK as a Chief Senior Researcher and joined Istanbul 29 Mayıs University in 2026, where he currently serves in the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering. In the field of blockchain, where he actively pursues his academic studies, he has taken part in numerous projects such as national digital identity infrastructure, Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), crypto-asset regulations for the Capital Markets of Türkiye, and regulatory technology (RegTech) infrastructures. He continues his academic research focusing on the security, digital identity, distributed governance and economic models in blockchain and AI-based systems.
