Dr. Ümit Hasanusta received his undergraduate degree from the Department of American Culture and Literature at Istanbul University in 2007. In 2011, Hasanusta completed the American Culture and Literature Master's program at Istanbul University with a thesis on the concepts of "time" and "consciousness" in the works of William Faulkner. During his master's and doctoral studies, Hasanusta was particularly interested in concepts of modernism, the modern American novel, literature & identity and literature & nationalism. In 2019, he completed his PhD in Comparative Literature at Istanbul University while focusing his doctoral thesis on the relationship between literature and nationalism in the context of the Yugoslav Civil War in the 1990s. After working as a lecturer at Biruni University, Department of Foreign Languages since 2014, he joined the Department of Foreign Language Education of the same university where he was appointed as an assistant professor. At the same time, he teaches as a part-time lecturer at the Department of American Culture and Literature at Haliç University. As of April 2021, he has been working as a faculty member at the Department of English Language and Literature at Istanbul 29 Mayıs University.
