Asst. Prof. Ümran ATABAŞ completed her undergraduate education in the Primary Education Program within the Department of Elementary Education at Sakarya University between 2001 and 2005. She completed her master’s degree between 2010 and 2013. In her master’s thesis, she conducted a study aimed at educating and raising awareness among elementary school students about nanotechnology and biotechnology.
She completed her Ph.D. between 2015 and 2020 in the Division of Primary Education, Primary Education Program, Department of Primary Education, Atatürk Faculty of Education, Marmara University. Her doctoral dissertation examined the effect of STEM education in science courses on students’ scientific creativity and reflective thinking skills, as well as students’ views on STEM education.
Since 2006, Dr. Atabaş has worked as a primary school teacher in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and in Science and Art Centers (BİLSEM). In June 2022, she joined the Division of Primary Education, Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Education, İstanbul 29 Mayıs University as an Assistant Professor.
Her research interests include science education, STEM education, extracurricular educational activities, and primary education.
