"Ottoman Istanbul" 5th International Symposium Book Published

Istanbul 29 May University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) organized the V. International Istanbul Ottoman Symposium, a new book was published. Edited by Prof. Dr. Feridun M. Emecen, Prof. Dr. Ali Akyıldız and Assoc. Dr. Emrah Safa Gürkan's work includes the declaration of the symposium which took place between 19-21 May 2017.

Istanbul 29 May University decided to organize serial symposiums on a periodic repetitive framework in order to make new contributions to the Ottoman centuries in the history of Istanbul. In this sense, the international participation of the Ottoman Empire, which deals with the process of becoming a Turkish - Islamic city through the historical, social, cultural and economic development of the Ottoman period Istanbul has realized the fourth of the symposium. This book contains articles in the form of papers presented at the meeting. Bookcases deal with various specific issues related to the history of Istanbul in the Ottoman period, the physical development of the city, the way of settlement and reconstruction, social structure and groups, economic activities and literature.
